Senior SQL Infrastructure Analyst – Contract Slough

Our long standing global client based in the Thames Valley has an immediate contract requirement for a Senior Infrastructure Analyst with extensive experience of performing inline SQL upgrades. The primary role will be to assist the existing team with a number of SQL upgrades over the coming months. In addition, the role will be to provide third line BAU support, encompassing service desk, desk side, server and infrastructure support to ensure that the client infrastructure, network and their associated back-office dependencies are both available and optimised for peak performance.

The primary responsibilities will be:

  • Deliver best in class IT infrastructure services for the clients internal and external customers
  • Ensure availability & performance of business systems to achieve SLA and great customer service
  • Assist with the inline upgrades of a number of SQL environments
  • Maximise uptime and availability of servers, networks and applications across the UK Infrastructure Estate
  • Complete analysis, planning and reporting as requested
  • Support the Infrastructure Architect in deliverables where required
  • Provide third line support for client users for tickets raised through the service desk
  • Own case/calls until resolved to the customer’s satisfaction
  • Resolution of issues escalated from desk top support analyst 
  • Creation of clear documentation, processes and user guides

Key Knowledge areas are:

  • Microsoft Operating Systems - Windows Server 2008 R2 / 2012 R2, Windows 7 / 8 / 10
  • SQL inline upgrade experience, alongside SQL 2008, 2012 and 2016
  • VMware ESXi 4.1/6.0
  • Citrix Xenapp 6.0 and Xendesktop
  • Active Directory/Group Policies, DNS/DHCP/TCP-IP
  • Symantec End Point Protection – Encryption/Anti-virus/Firewall
  • Networking knowledge covering LAN/vLAN/WAN technologies
  • iGel Thin Clients
  • Apple iOS support. Linux, Office 365, Websense
  • Candidate must be analytical, precise, with open questioning approach
  • Lateral thinker with the ability to adapt quickly to new challenges
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Fluent in business English, both written and verbal
  • Customer facing and customer focused
  • Owns problems and sees them through to the satisfaction of the customer
  • Security conscious
  • Full mobility required, Full current driving license required

This is an initial contract until the end of 2017 with a competitive day rate for the right candidate.
